It's great to have you here in the Community, @kgstockwell1-aol,

I'm here to help and get you back to business. Incorrect bank information or insufficient funds might cause bank payment transfers and direct debits to fail.

I have steps we can do to work around this issue, here's how:

To start, we'll need to figure out where the failed payment is in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account:

1. In your QBO account, go to the +New menu.
2.  Select Bank deposit or Record bank deposit.
3. Review the QuickBooks Payment section.
4. Look for the payment on the list. If you see it, it isn't deposited yet. If you don't, it is deposited.

If the direct debit is indeed rejected, you can visit this article for detailed steps: Handle a rejected or failed bank transfer payment.

You may also want to read this article for future use if you want to learn how to record journal entries in QBO: Create a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have any other concerns about managing your payments in QBO. The Community Team always has your back. Keep safe!
