Deleting your data and starting over with a new company file would depend on your subscription level and how long you've been using QuickBooks, Pete. We'll provide further details and guide you through the process below.

You can reset your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account within ninety (90) days of sign-up. This is only for QBO Advanced, Plus, or Essentials users. For Simple Start subscribers, you need to cancel your current subscription and start a new one.

Please note that purging your account will delete all data in your company file, and restoring it isn't possible. When you're ready, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online Company.
  2. Once you're signed in, open this link. Alternatively, you can change the URL to include /purgecompany
  3. Example: Change https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage to https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany
  4. The next screen will provide a summary of the items to delete. Type YES to delete the data, then select OK.

If your QBO account has been active for more than 90 days, you can't delete your data. Instead, you have to cancel your subscription and then start a new subscription.

For the complete guide to starting fresh with your company data, please see this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can format CSV files in Excel to import transactions from MS Money.

you have multiple QuickBooks companies, you can use the same login information to save time. This way, you can switch between companies easily.

Since I have had my QBO account for more than 90 days, I understand that I need to cancel my account and set up a new account. I only have the one business. Will I be able to use the same business name for my new account, and if not, what is a good alternative? Thank you.

I'm here to help you manage your business accounts, @debra-debragarci.

Yes, you're right. You will need to cancel your current account and create a new one, and you can use the same business name and login information for the new account.

For proper details in purging your data, check out this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, before you purge your data or delete your account to start fresh, consider saving your current lists by transferring them to a new file. Refer to the steps below on how to export your list to Excel:

  1. Sign in to the account that has your lists.
  2. Go to Reports.
  3. Export the necessary list by searching and running the Account ListCustomer Contact ListSupplier Contact List, or Product/Service List report.
  4. After saving your report, export it.

Then, proceed to Step 2 in this article for more details and for guidance in importing your list to the new file: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.
