How to change accountant

I started working with an accountant in January who provided me with access to QBO as part of what was intended to be a comprehensive monthly service offer for my business which is a new venture.  Over the last seven months it has become clear that my business is not a good fit for their practice and I want to part company with them.  I have tried to discuss this with them but unfortunately they don't seem to be able to give the matter any attention at all.  I suspect this is because they have longer standing clients that have required more attention because of the Covid pandemic.  I am very sympathetic to this but the lack of attention to my business is becoming a real problem for my business so I must do something about it.

How do I take control of the QBO subscription and my existing data myself so that I have the freedom to instruct a new accountant?

I know how important managing and making sure you're in control of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @Everyonelovesaccounts. That's why I'm here to guide you on the actions you need to take care of this.

Based on your complete description of the issue above, it seems that your company is under your accountant's wholesale billing. The usual process in parting your QBO company with your current accountant is to let them transfer the master administrator role and billing information to you. Then, you'll be notified via email along with the steps to resubscribe.

In case your current accountant still hasn't paid any attention to part your company, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Support team. They can transfer the master admin access to you and separate your company from your accountant's wholesale billing.

We've updated our customer support options in QBO. To talk to one of our support, you can request a callback at the time of your convenience. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Select Get a call or Get a callback.
  6. Enter your contact information.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

To make sure we address your concern on time, contact us within Monday to Friday every 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST. Then, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM every Saturday. For the Advanced version of QuickBooks, you can contact them any time and any day.

After removing your QBO company, you now have the full authority in your account and the freedom to instruct a new accountant. To work with a new accountant, you'll have to invite one first. For the detailed steps, kindly check out this article: Invite or remove an accountant. It also contains steps on how to remove them in your account.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
