Question

How to log a PayPal refund

Hi,

My question is basically the same as this one: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/entering-paypal-refund-into-quickbooks-online-simple/00/449472

I paid someone from PayPal at some point. This entry was logged back then.

Then, some weeks later, the person refunded the same amount to me. <-- I want to log this transaction as well.

My PayPal account is not linked to any credit card. It's linked to a bank account.

So I am honestly quite confused with the "Credit card credit" option I have to select, according to the information stated in the link above.

I don't have anything in the "Bank/Credit account" currently. And when I click "+ Add new", I can only select a "Credit Card" account type.

Please let me know how to move forward here.

Hi there, gs_sm.

The Credit Card Credit option is intended for refunds from an expense transaction that was paid using a credit card. In this case, you can either select the Supplier credit or Bank Deposit option to record the refund.

Let me share this article on how you can record these types of transactions in QBO: How do I handle supplier credits and refunds?.

I'll be around if you need anything else.
