Question

I'm trying to load my Barclays bank to link but it gives me an error code OBA28... Then it says something went wrong. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Hello there, malboeufy.

It's possible that your bank is having some update maintenance. Let's make sure that you're able to log in to their website. If it's successful, then go back to your QuickBooks account and try to connect the bank.

Otherwise, we need to check the correct bank URL by following these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Banking and choose the Banking tab.
  2. Select the Add account button and then log in to your bank website.
  3. Copy the URL at the top of screen and paste it to the Enter your bank name or URL search box in QuickBooks Online.
  4. Enter your login credentials and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.

Here's a sample screenshot of what it looks like:

I've also got these articles for reference:

After the steps above, if you still get the same error, we can do the basic troubleshooting steps.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account in an incognito or private browser. This mode doesn't save cache and temporary Internet files.
  2. After logging in, go to the banking section and link your bank account. If it's connected, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache. Clearing the cache resolves any common browser-related errors.

Alternatively, you can open a different browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari) in linking your bank account.

Meanwhile, you can use the WebConnect feature to import the bank transactions manually. Please take note that once your bank is connected, you might see duplicate transactions. If this happens, you can just exclude them. You can open this article for the step by step instructions: Exclude expenses from downloaded bank transactions.

When you're bank is successfully linked to QuickBooks Online, you can start adding or matching your downloaded transactions. Then, reconcile the account.
