Question

Importing Custom Invoice Templates into QuickBooks Online

New user to QBO and somewhat perplexed by the inability to create or match existing company brand to a professional level within QBO. Found an old article created in 2018 which illustrates a level of flexibility to create a word template and import directly into QBO as an invoice template but this feature appear to have been removed in 2021 - Why?

If there is no longer a solution to create professional stationery items this would mean IMHO QBO is not fit for purpose for brand conscious organisations

Hello MJPH,

Welcome to the Community page,

The decision was made to retire the option to have custom import styles a few years ago now.

There was several key reasons for this but ultimately it came down to these reasons:

• Cost of maintenance for our invoicing engineering team

• CS contacts (Internationally)

• Bug reports (several investigations raised)

• Limited overall usage

We appreciate what you are saying and have passed this on as feedback.

Absolutely - have a cheer!

& I say this as someone that still retains the .docx import feature for invoices (last time I checked, at least!).

PS... don't expect the Feedback to have any effect whatsoever.

The .docx import was tricky to get right but perfectly usable.  It was marked as a beta product (QBO Labs) so, in essence, unsupported.  You used it in that knowledge, so 3 out of 4 of the reasons given above for pulling it simply don't hold water.
