Keeping Historical Data From QBD UK

We are having to migrate from QBD UK to QBO UK. It looks like it will be simpler to use opening balances rather than import historical transactions as we have multi currency data. If we use opening balances how do we keep/view our historical data? Are we able to keep a version of QBD UK just for viewing purposes, or would we need to somehow download all our transactions? When QBD UK is discontinued what happens to our copy & our data?

Hi Katie92, based on customer feedback we're extending the deadline of our QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation for all users until June 2023, during which you'll have access as usual to your Desktop product and to our customer support team. If you haven't already received this, we'll be sending out email communication in the coming weeks with further details. We'll also be sharing a second update on the 17th October 2022 to provide you with more details on the migration options, as well as how you can access your historical accounting data after the discontinuation. 🙂

Hi GeorgiaC, do you anticipate that by June 2023 Quickbooks will have improved their migration tool so that it will migrate multi-currency transactions from QBD UK to QBO UK?

Hi Katie92, this is not expected to support multicurrency; the new migration tool is to improve the quality of data and to increase the size of files that we can migrate. 🙇‍♀️

@Katie92

You may have 2 options:

1. Purchase a 3rd party service to convert your multi currency data to QB Online or another cloud based accounting app.

2. Purchase a one-time license for QB Desktop 2020 to open any archive file (e.g. QBW, QBB, QBM) created on QB Desktop 2020 or earlier.
