Migration failure from Desktop to QB On-line, possible conflict between UK and Irish Company address.

I’m attempting to migrate from QB Desktop to Online, we’re based in Ireland and despite following the migration instructions meticulously we’ve not been successful.

This is the failure notice:

‘We’re sorry. We couldn’t import your company file into QuickBooks Online.

Sometimes this happens if there’s an issue with the data in your company file. Most often you can fix import issues by rebuilding the data file and then restarting the export process.’

However I’ve noticed that in QB Online, it’s only possible to have a UK company address, the county field is pre-populated with UK counties and Irish postcodes are rejected. Since the desktop version has the company address in the correct Irish format, with Irish counties and postcode, is it possible that this is causing the failure to import?

The licence has been purchased from a QuickBooks Partner based in Dublin.

Hi Caxtonm 👋

Thanks for joining us here on the Community.

It's only possible to migrate between products of the same region, are you using the UK or Irish version of QuickBooks Online?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The online version was setup by QB Partner in Dublin, from whom the lic was purchased. It appear to me as a UK version, but I'm not sure there's an Irish version.

A trial version of UK 2020 is being used for the migration and that accepts Irish addresses.

@Caxton

As far as I know, you can only migrate QBD UK version to QBO UK version.

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/UK

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/Ireland

You may have 2 options:

1. Utilize a 3rd party migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Desktop, TPImporter for Online

https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbd

2. Purchase a 3rd party migration service.
