I'll share some information about the migration from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, neil32.

For now, we're still currently working on a new service to help you make your move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online (QBO) since we are discontinuing our Desktop offering in the UK region. At the moment, you can use excel to import your CSV data lists

To start the process, you can download your data to move out of QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

  1. Make sure you back up and save a copy of your desktop data file.
  2. Export your lists and generate a detailed chart of accounts report plus open transaction reports to help you set up.
    1. Download the relevant sales and purchase invoices, then complete the following:
      1. Go to preferences and remove the period end, spelling checks and notification of changes made before you start. This will let you to print without having to confirm multiple times.
      2. Select the invoices from your chosen year (for example, 1 April 2021).
      3. You can download the entire year if you wish. If you have a high number of invoices (lets say, more than 25 per month), we recommend downloading them by month. You can print the invoices and put them in a PDF format and into folder later.
    2. Make sure you have copies of all your bank statements.
  3. Enter your opening balances into your new providers chart of accounts and import your customer and supplier lists.
  4. Finally, re-create or import your open transactions and adjust your open balances accordingly.

To give you more details on the process, I've added this article your guide: QuickBooks Desktop Discontinuation Support Hub

Furthermore, QuickBooks Online makes it easy for you to record your business expenses. To know more about this, check out this article for more details: Enter And Manage Expenses In QuickBooks Online.

Hello, is the migration issue solved yet?

Hi all, we've launched our new migration path with Move My Books which is available now for all users of QuickBooks for Desktop 2009 and above. At the moment, data can be migrated to QB Online Essentials and QB Online Plus, and we're working to include QB Online Simple Start. Please click here to be directed to MMB where you can view full info & begin the migration.

Nope, even though they said it would be back on weeks ago.

It's almost like they don't want all the loyal Quickbooks Desktop users moving over to the Online version because it's actually so bad.

@neil32

We expect them to release an enhanced converter tool in mid-October. Otherwise, you may consider purchasing a third-party service to convert data to QB Online or another accounting app.
