Moving to QuckBooks Online

Is it possible to move from QB Self Assessment to QB Online and keep all the data?

I find it so annoying that you do not support recurring invoicing or integration with other apps like GoCardless.

We can only bring in your bank transactions when switching to QuickBooks Online, WBJ Designs.

The reason is that QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't use the same categories as QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) does. However, we can manually enter the other data by exporting and importing them.

Before switching, we'll have to save your QBSE data first. Let me guide you with these steps:

  1. Click the Reports tab.
  2. In the Tax details section, select a tax year.
  3. Select Download to get a tax details report.

Afterward, you're good to download the transactions you need to move. Here's an article for the detailed steps and what to do once you've downloaded the entries: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online.

With regards to the recurring invoices and the integration of GoCardless and QuickBooks, these options are available in QuickBooks Online. That said, I'll take note of your idea and share it with our developers. They'll analyze this one and may be added as one the features in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I've also added these articles that have the list of what you can do with QuickBooks Online:

@WBJ Designs

QBSE is a stand-alone product with no migration path yet and has very limited support from 3rd party apps.

I think very limited is an understatement.

No improvements on feature offering seem to be in development.

No proper support apart from forums.
