Question

My bank account has stopped updating since 28/11/22. On the linked accounts tab I get this message - checking (...7278) - and the correct balance. Can anyone help?

Help has arrived, Assl. Thank you for sharing your concern with the Community.

This message appears when your bank is not updating. Before we start, I'd like to verify the name of your financial institution. Any additional details are much appreciated to help us provide the appropriate resolution.

Furthermore, there are messages and notifications from your bank website, especially the updates that can block their connection to QuickBooks Online (QBO). This might be why your account isn't showing the appropriate balance.

To resolve this, I can share some tests to ensure your account downloads your recent transactions. I suggest signing in to your bank's website to check for updates, messages, or notifications. Then, take the necessary actions to complete any required process.

Once done, log back into your QBO account to refresh the connection between the system and your bank. Here's how:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select the bank account you need to update.
  3. Select For review tab.
  4. Select Update to prompt QuickBooks to retrieve the most recent transactions from your bank.

In addition, if this bank has been updating transactions for a couple of months and had suddenly stopped, your bank connection may need to be reauthorised in QBO. Here's what you can do: Reconnect your bank account in QuickBooks Online.

I'd also like to share this resource in times you get specific banking error codes commonly known in QuickBooks and how to fix them: Fix connection errors.
