Question

Need to be able to discount individual line items when creating estimates and invoices

Hi all, am looking to start with QuickBooks and have registered for a demo account. Have downloaded the custom form templates and need to add the ability to discount individual line items and not simply the full estimate/invoice. Let's say I have 5 products in my estimate and I only want to discount product 1 by 20%, is there a way of adding a discount box in the estimate/invoice per line item?

Hi anthonywillard, thanks for trying out QuickBooks - it's currently only possible to apply the discount as a whole, rather than per line item on the transaction. We appreciate there's a need for this and as such we've submitted feedback to our dev team. 🙂

Many thanks for the reply. Important that this feature be added.

One further question. Have a need to order goods from my factory and this estimate needs to show the 'Buy' price and not the Sale price. Is there a way of creating an estimate template that shows this?

Don't get suckered in that Intuit will add any sort of feature which their users request. Simple, essential things like this have been requested over and over again for years. Nothing changes.

My word of advise is, if you are coming from Quickbooks Desktop be prepared to be frustrated. If you are just getting going with accounting, be prepared to be disappointed.
