Why don't product codes appear on a purchase order?

Are suppliers meant to guess from the description what we need to order?

I have read a few threads on this, none work.

Hello RAY15, thanks for posting on the Community page, so you will have to put the product code on the purchase order in the description section of the invoice. However, if you put the item in the description section on the product and service setup it should then show up on the invoice for you.

And then the product code will show up twice on an invoice?

Very amateur.

Why cant this be fixed, other people clearly have this issue?

Let me chime into this thread to address your concern about showing the product codes in your purchase orders, @RAY15.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can enable the product code column in your purchase orders by navigating to the Accounts and Settings of your account. Let me walk you through the process:

Go to the Gear icon and select Accounts and settings.
Click the Sales tab, then tap the pencil icon from the Products and services section.
Enable the Show Item/Service Code column. (If this is enabled already, turn it off and turn it on again to trigger the system.)
Hit Save, then Done to finish.
