Question

quick books is not user friendly, I nearly chucked my MacBook Pro across the room!

loads of uploaded receipts don't correspond with the transactions, so they make my expense lots more than they are.  There's no easy way to combine them, have to download the receipt from the cash one and upload it to the bank account transaction than delete the other one.

There's no easy way to deal with refunds.

When looking at transactions on the website by taping the little black arrow, you end up taping the scroll bar and loosing your place, so annoying.

Because its not as straight forward as I thought it would be, it has taken me ages to get my accounts in order.  I would have been quick with a pen and paper.

Im seriously thinking of closing my QB account.

This is not the impression we want you to experience when using QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), Luke79.

You can email images of your receipts to QuickBooks instead of recording them one at a time. This is a great way to enter multiple receipts all at once, or when you don't have the QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app handy. Wherein QuickBooks scans the images and enters the details for you. To learn more about this one, see the Forward receipt images to QuickBooks Self-Employed article. Here's how QuickBooks handles the receipt forwarding feature:

  • If a credit/debit card number is provided, we check if you connected this credit/bank account to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  • If there is No credit/debit card number provided or that account isn't connected to QuickBooks Self-Employed account, we still try to match the receipt against transactions.

If you connect your bank and credit card accounts, QBSE automatically downloads your recent transactions. You can also create and use rules to quickly categorize recent and past transactions. All you have to do is review the work. Just follow the steps and details in the Create rules to speed up reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed article.

On the other hand, the refund feature is unavailable in QuickBooks Self-Employed. However, I've got a workaround that you may consider. You can exclude the expense transaction that you recorded in your book. If you access your QuickBooks account through a web browser, here's how:

  1. Go to the Transaction page.
  2. Open the transaction.
  3. Check Exclude on.
  4. Select Save.

But if you access your QuickBooks account through the mobile app, you can just tap the transaction and toggle Exclude on. I've got you an article for your reference: Exclude or Delete Transactions.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you. You have a good one.
