Record a bill payment by shareholder loan

Hi!

I use Quickbooks online. I have received a bill from an external provider, addressed to my Company. However, for payment, it was the shareholder of my Company who paid that invoice on behalf of my Company.

When I access the Suppliers' section and try to make a payment of that specific bill, I can't choose any category other than bank under section «Bank/Credit account».

Could you please advise?

Thanks!

I'm here to help record a bill payment by shareholder loan, @avelper.

When trying to make a payment for a specific bill, choosing a category under the Bank account dropdown menu is unavailable. You only have the option to select credit/bank account in that section.

Alternatively, you can use another way of recording payments towards bills. You may utilize this method to record cash and credit card payments for a bill. Record separate payments after each time you make them.

Here's how:

  1. Click + New and click Pay Bills.
  2. From the Payment account dropdown, choose the account you paid the bill from. For instance, if you paid from your checking account, select checking.
  3. If you select a checking or savings account, you can enter the Starting check no. This is optional.
  4. Enter the Payment date.
  5. Choose the checkboxes for the bills you made a payment towards.
  6. In the Payment column, enter the amount you paid for each bill.
  7. Once done, click the Schedule payments online ▼ dropdown. Then select Save, or Save and close
