Hi. How can we show the exchange rate on invoices?

From this month, one of our clients requires FX rate along the VAT amount. Thanks

You'll need to assign a foreign currency to your customer's profile to display the exchange rate on the invoice, Xavier. Allow me to provide further details below.

 

First, you'll need to activate the multicurrency feature in QuickBooks before you can configure foreign currency settings for your customer's profile. This feature allows you to manage transactions in various currencies different from your local currency. Please note that once enabled, this feature cannot be deactivated and is available in the Essentials, Plus, and Advanced plans.

 

Upon activation, you can then set a foreign currency for your customer's profile. If a customer was created before this setup, you need to deactivate that customer and create a new profile with the appropriate currency settings.

 

Here's how:

 

1. Navigate to the Sales, then Customers.

2. Click New customer.

3. In the Customer information window, select the customer's currency from the Currency dropdown field. This is the currency that the customer uses to pay you for products or services.

4. Fill out the required information.

5. Hit Save.

Hi, @Xavier11. Thank you for getting back in the thread, i understand that displaying the exchange rate alongside the VAT amount is essential for compliance with your client's requirements.

To begin with, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have a direct option to add the exchange rate on your printed invoice forms. You can submit your feedback to our development team, which will help us enhance your overall QuickBooks experience. To do that:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Settings and select Feedback.
  2. Enter your product suggestions.
  3. Then, click Next to submit them.

However, we have a workaround to display the exchange rate on your printed invoice. You can use Custom fields and enable the Print on form option for Invoice to display this information.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom fields.
  3. Click Add field.
  4. In the Name field, enter "Exchange rate".
  5. For the Data type, select Text and number.
  6. Check the Invoice box, then enable the "Print on form" option for that field.


Let’s print a test invoice to see if the exchange rate will display.

 

  1. Go to the +New button, then select Invoice.
  2. After filling in the necessary information on the invoice, copy the highlighted box and paste it into the exchange rate box.
  3. Click Print or Preview button. 


    You will now see the exchange rate on your printed invoice.
