Stripe

Ive just signed up to quick books self employed and have spent the afternoon going in circles trying to connect stripe to QB's. I see there are apps but why do I need to pay for additional apps when I'm already paying for a monthly subscription?????

There were some limited use free apps available but none of the ones I tried would connect, or if they did connect they didnt work. I tried Greenback, which was horrifically complex so I gave up and Synder which was easy to connect and showed a connection in QB and  Synder but no info was showing in  y Dashboard.

Its very frustrating. I treid to disconnect the connection between the two above metioned apps and my QB account but the disconnect buttons do not work!!!

This is such  shame as I now need to cancel my subscription as nearly half my sales go through Stripe and I will have to add them manually which is what I wanted to avoid.

There are lots of other, and free, accounting softare that allows you to connect to stripe as standard and also easily upload CVS files, which QB makes almost impossible to do.

Yes, you need to have QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can connect Stripe, PerfectCuppa.

I'm also glad to let you know that you can migrate to QBO from the existing QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) data. Please refer to this article for instructions and detailed steps: Move your QuickBooks Self-Employed data to QuickBooks Online.

Don't forget to cancel your QBSE plan so you won't be charged for the subscription. Then, choose Simple Start or other plans through this link: QuickBooks plan and pricing.

Once you're all set up with QBO, here's how to connect an app:

  1. From the left menu, click Apps
  2. In the search bar, type in Stripe
  3. Locate the apps that can integrate Stripe, then connect it from there.

Let me know if you have follow-up questions by commenting below. I'll be right here to help sync Stripe to your QuickBooks account.

Hi @thewoollyrabbit,

I can understand how it feels when an application you use isn't working as you'd expect it to be. Let me take care of your queries.

For QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), the 3rd party app you can connect for online payments is PayPal. Stripe isn't available, which would explain why you're unable to connect to it.

As for the payment on 3rd party apps, it's because it's an additional service being offered by a 3rd party company, which is why there's a different fee for it.

If you wish to proceed with using Stripe, it's available to connect with QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can continue to cancel your QBSE subscription and subscribe to a QBO company instead.

Do you have other questions in mind? Post them below, and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Thank you, I have cancelled my QBSE account, does the QB Online connect to Stripe directly without an app?
