Switching from Sole Trader (QBSE TO QBO)

I'm currently using QB Sole Trader.  The software I use for booking in jobs and managing clients has the ability to export invoices to QB normal version but not Sole Trader.

 

As a ST, can I use the normal version of QB, and could I export my data to it so I don't need to start again for the tax year?

Yes, you can use the QuickBooks Online (QBO) version and export data to it, @sjp78. Allow me to share a few things about this.

 

QuickBooks Online versions offer small businesses, from sole proprietorships to large corporations, and offer more advanced features than QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). You can use QuickBooks Online to manage bill payments, send invoices, manage 1099 contractors, and much more depending on the plan you choose. 

 

While QuickBooks Self-Employed is focused on basic bookkeeping for freelancers and others who file their taxes as sole proprietors. Please know that once we moved to QBO, we can't switch back to QuickBooks Self-Employed. 

 

To move your data from QBSE to QBO, you'll need to export them first using a CSV file and upload them into QuickBooks Online. Even if you decide not to import everything, it's a good idea to download all of your transactions for your records.
