Welcome to the Community, @Anji.

To become a Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliant, your QuickBooks should be the latest supported version (currently QB2019) and install all new updates and upgrades as they become available.

For more information, check out the HMRC policy: Overview of Making Tax Digital.

To file VAT through the MTD, please follow these steps:

1. Click the Vat menu at the top to go to the File VAT (Accountants). You will be prompted to ensure you have an Agent Services Account.
     a. Link your clients to agent services account and ensure they are eligible for MTD.
     b. Connect to HMRC using your new goverment gateway user ID and password.
2. Select File VAT (Small Businesses) and sign up for MTD for VAT.
     a. Connect to HMRC.
     b. Sign into HMRC using your goverment gateway credentials.
     c. Grant authority to interact with HMRC on your behalf.
3. Hit File VAT MTD.
     a. Pick the relevant VAT return, then Proceed.
     b. Review your return and tick File Return.
     c. Agree to the declaration and click File Return.
     d. Once done, hit Finish.
