Hi All,

I have a supplier account which is in a total mess, is there an easy way to un-allocate all the payments and start a fresh without affecting the bank account reconciliations?

Kind Regards

Tony

It's nice to see you again in QuickBooks Community, t-mcgivern-hotma.

I'll share different information on how QuickBooks transactions or payments works in the system.

If the payments you're trying to un-allocate are already reconciled, there's no way to unlink all the payments and start fresh without affecting the bank account reconciliations. That said, your balance will be affected if you unlink allocated payments or made any changes that are already reconciled. However, you'll have the option to unreconciled an individual transaction from a completed reconciliation. Then, unlink those supplier's payments to start a new one. While doing this, I'd recommend consulting an accountant for guidance so your account stays accurate.

If the payments you're trying to un-allocate are not yet reconciled, yes, there an easy way to un-allocate all the payments and start fresh without affecting the bank account reconciliations. To do this, you'll need to go to the Expenses tab and find the supplier payments. Then, delete so you're able to unlink this to a connected entry and start a new beginning to apply this to another one.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Expenses menu on the left panel.
  2. Choose the Expenses section.
  3. Locate the payment and click it to expand the page.
  4. Click the More button at the bottom.
  5. Choose Delete and you'll be prompted with This transaction is linked to others. Are you sure you want to delete it? Click Yes to confirm.

Please refer to the articles below to see steps on how you can record the payment of money to a supplier in advance of receiving the Bill. Then, a report that will reflect all payments made to suppliers.

Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'd be glad to answer should you have any follow-up questions. Take care and have a wonderful rest of the day.
