Updating from QuickBooks Pro 2012 Desktop UK Version to QuickBooks Pro 2021 Desktop UK Version.

Hi, we are an Online Retailer and use QuickBooks in conjunction with a Multi-Channel Software Platform.

We are currently using QuickBooks Pro 2012 Desktop UK Version on a PC running Windows 7 and post a daily Sales Journal from the Multi-Channel Software Platform to QuickBooks.

Unfortunately, we have hit a major brick wall as the PC has decided to call it a day and has become extremely slow and has had better days.

This has created a big problem for us, as inevitably it has forced us to update the PC and the current version of QuickBooks.

Buying a new PC with Windows 11 is not an issue.

The issue is that QuickBooks have decided to discontinue QuickBooks Desktop Version and that is the option we require as the Multi-Channel Software Platform can only post the daily Sales Journal to the Desktop Version and not the Online Version.

The other issue I have is how I get the Company File (QuickBooks Pro 2012 Desktop UK Version) to be able to open in a newer version of QuickBooks. Is there a step by step process?

Is it possible to still buy QuickBooks Pro 2021 Desktop UK Version?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2020 to upgrade your version. Click my profile name and you will find our website address to send a direct message.

Hi there, @BikeChampions. I'll share some details about getting a copy of your company file and restoring it to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

Since QuickBooks has discontinued the UK versions, know that there's no other way to update your file to the latest version of QBDT. However, you can consider exploring our QuickBooks Online UK and register for a free trial version. Although the multi-channel feature is currently unavailable, QBO has a lot of 3rd-party apps that you can integrate to manage your business.

 

If you wish to continue, I can input the steps below so you can proceed to explore QuickBooks Online UK. But before you proceed, you'll want to create a backup copy of your QuickBooks Desktop company file. To begin, here's how:

 

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Go to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company. Then select Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
  5. Set the number of backups you want to keep. This is optional.
  6. This runs a test to make sure your backup file is in good shape before you save.
  7. When you're ready, select OK and then click Save it now and Next.

Once done, follow these simple steps to register for a free trial account in QBO:

 

  1. Go to this link https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/
  2. Select the country you want to set up.
  3. Click See all plans, and then Select Free trial for 30 days.
  4. Choose a subscription, and then click Try it free.
  5. You can click Continue with payroll if you want to add a free trial payroll or without payroll.
  6. Check out.
  7. Enter your user name and password, and then set up company.
