Question

Why can't accountants access the mileage tracker?

We can only download the trip log, but we can't access the records to add further trips. This used to be a really useful feature, now it's unusable.

Also, why are the log downloads based on income tax years? These should be based on the company's financial year. This is an accounting package, not income tax return software!

Hi richard96, currently only primary admin users can track mileage in QuickBooks Online. The feature was originally released for QuickBooks Self-Employed before being introduced to QuickBooks Online, and so is designed with the income tax year in mind. To submit feedback for further options for the mileage tracker, please click the Cog > Feedback in your account.

Thanks. Yes, I see it does work in clients where I am primary admin - and I can set the reporting dates manually to a different period. Seems a strange decision to block accountants' access to this module when we have free reign to reclassify transactions, write off invoices, post adjusting journals and lots of equally dangerous stuff 🙂
