Question

Project cost tracking does not include fixed assets

Project cost tracking does not include fixed assets like purchasing a land for construction work.

How to make the project cost tracking include the fixed assets transactions?

By the way, running the Balance Sheet -Details report does not bring value as I can view the fixed asset account balance/details.

I want to view the overall cost tracking of a project to be displayed on the overview board and in the project reports as well.

Hello there, @5BY5.

I am here to provide some insights about including the fixed assets in the project cost tracking and the Balance Sheet Detail report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Currently, including fixed assets in the project cost tracking and the Balance Sheet Detail is unavailable. I suggest sending feedback to our Product Engineering team on this suggestion so they can get a better understanding of the situation and may consider including it in future product updates.

 Here's how:

  1. Select Settings, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Then select Next to submit feedback.

As a workaround, instead of assigning the fixed asset to the project, you can try associating it with the customer who owns the asset. This way, the asset will be linked to the customer and not the project itself.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference in managing your projects in QBO: Create and manage projects in QuickBooks Online and Accountant.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns and follow-up questions about tracking fixed assets in project cost tracking in QBO. I'll be here to lend a helping hand.
