Am trying Desktop Premier Accountant with 28 days left- opened my client's books and program shut down. I relaunched and now my trial is "expired".

My bookkeeping practice is outgrowing Desktop Premier. Or rather, I can get things done faster with Desktop Premier Accountant, mainly batch entry of transactions. I downloaded the trial version to make sure I liked it before dropping extra money on it and opened a couple of my client files with no problem. Opened one this afternoon and the program crashed. When I relaunched I got a message saying my trial had expired when I had 28 days remaining only minutes before!

What I've already done:

  • Rebooted computer;
  • Ran Repair tool;
  • Uninstalled the program and reinstalled;

All to no avail. Can anyone tell me how I can complete my trial? I'm not willing to buy with only two days of playing around with it. All help much appreciated!

Hi AccountantYYC,

I can understand the impact this has had, and the importance of getting the most out of your QuickBooks Desktop free trial.  Please follow these steps to re-activate your QuickBooks Trial:

  1. Type Run into the Windows search bar and open Run.
  2. Type C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8 and then Enter.  If this doesn't open a folder, type C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6 instead.
  3. Note: If you still can't find the V6 or V8 folder, open Windows file explorer and go to C:, ProgramDataIntuit, and then Entitlement Client. Make sure Hidden items is checked in file explorer.
  4. Find EntitlementDataStore.ecml. Right-click the file and select Delete. Select Yes to confirm.
  5. Open QuickBooks and your company file.

@AccountantYYC

You can use the trial version for good if required.

It's a 30-day trial and has a countdown when you open the software letting you know how many days are left. At that point you have to pay for it or it won't let you open any files. I had 28 days left and don't want to activate it to paid until I can fully test it out.
