by default does quickbooks self-employed log out of bank connections after a certain amount of time if not in use? It seems that if I leave my browser for a few hours I get logged out of quickbooks self-employed...I assume that I am also logged out of my banks at that point? thanks

In order to get to the bottom of this issue, I recommend getting in touch with our Self-Employed support team by tapping the + button and selecting Ask QB Assistant. From here a QB Self-Employed specialist will be able to get a closer look at your account and help point you in the right direction.
