Question

Bank lockout

When QuickBooks tries to log into the bank automatically at night it causes the bank to generate a 2 step verification prompt.  After several failed attempts I get locked out on all devices and need to login to my Bank account to get everything going again.  Does anyone else have this problem? I still want to import my transactions and have the records for reconciliation but I don't want QuickBooks to try login automatically anymore.  I disconnected the accounts for now because I don't want it to continue to try login when I am not signed in to QuickBooks.  But now I can't see the past transactions .  Is there any way to set it up that QuickBooks only checks the bank when I ask it to?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. Your banking is a vital part of your account. It's important you're able to get the support you need in order to move forward with your work.

To get started, I recommend clearing cache and cookies on your browser. Clearing cache and cookies is a great way to clean your browser allowing it to work more efficiently. Here's an article that shows you how to do that: How to clear cache and cookies. Otherwise, I recommend manually uploading your bank transactions using the steps provided in this article here. To make sure we're both on the same page, are you looking to have your bank connected but not have the transactions automatically updated?

I look forward to hearing back from you in the comments below. I'll be here.

Hi James,

It's nothing to do with the browser and everything to do with the quickbooks server trying to log in and get the balance in the middle of the night. My Bank sees that as a hacking attempt. I want the bank to update automatically but I don't want it doing it at random times even when I'm not logged in.  That makes my 2 step validation kick in at the bank and if I'm not at the computer to authorize it - it locks my account,

There's no solution for automatic ... I have to download the transactions from my bank and upload to quickbooks.

Thanks anyway.

Connecting your bank to QuickBooks allows for the program sync with the transactions on your bank's website. Is this what you mean by QuickBooks is logging into your bank?
