Can I "block" a section header account so it cannot be posted to, and you can only post to the subaccounts?

Thanks for reaching out. I can see how having the flexibility to post to sub-accounts without it showing to the header account would be handy for your business.

At this time, QuickBooks Online does not include this feature. Header accounts are set up as parent accounts in the system and inactivating or blocking a parent account would also inactive all its sub-accounts. They really always go hand in hand in the system. Apart from using parent and sub-accounts in QuickBooks Online to organize your books, you could also use account numbers. This could enable every sub-account to exist as parent accounts but having a numbering system to differentiate a parent header account from a parent sub-account.
