Hello cynthia-cotte,

This is a great question! While the bank feeds are a handy feature to use in QuickBooks Online, they're not a mandatory feature in the program. That means, yes, you can absolutely create a bank account in the program without connecting your bank to the feed or uploading transactions. I'd be happy to show you how it's done.

When you want to create a bank or other kind of account in QuickBooks Online, it's a simple matter of adding a new account to the chart of accounts section of your books. I've got a couple of great articles here that go through working with the chart of accounts and creating accounts, so I recommend starting with these to get a full sense of how it works.

Once you've got your bank account set up, you'll be able to enter transactions into QuickBooks and attribute them to the bank account as needed, preventing you from needing to use a spreadsheet. For instance, if you get a sales receipt from a customer, you can tell QuickBooks Online that you want it to show up in the bank account in the chart of accounts by selecting it from the Deposit to drop-down menu. If you need to create an expense, you can choose that bank account as the one that was used outside of QuickBooks to pay the amount.

Keep in mind that this is simply a recording process in both of these instances and actual money movement in your bank outside of the program will not take place. If you were interested in receiving funds directly from your customers through QuickBooks Online, check out this page: QuickBooks Online Payments.

I hope this helps clear up how to go about working with your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online without connecting to the banking feed or uploading transactions. Don't hesitate to leave a reply on this thread if you had more questions about it. I'm here to help!
