Cash Advance to Paycheques for Employees

Hello everyone and Happy new Year!

 

I'm eager to understand how to add a cash advance to an employee's paycheck. Currently, I know how to set up the repayment for a cash advance but not the actual payment itself

Hi TatianaC, 

 

Thanks for reaching out here.  It's great to hear that you were able to set up the employee repayment option in QuickBooks Online Payroll.  I'd be glad to assist you with setting up the associated pay type, so it populates on the employee pay.  

 

Here's how to set up the pay type for and advance;

 

1. Open Payroll, then Employees

2. Select the employee to open their profile

3. In the Pay types section, click Edit

4. Scroll down and click on the Edit 📝 beside Other

5. Enter a name, such as Advance

6. Hit Save, then Done

You're all set!  When you're ready to run payroll, you can enter the amount in the Advance field.  When you hit Preview payroll, you'll see the amount for the Advance.
