Hi hbpierce.

Having the correct company type selected is imperative as it makes sure you have the correct tax forms set up. I can help walk you through how to make this change in QuickBooks Online.

Sometimes your company type changes and QuickBooks Online makes it easy to switch to the correct one. In some cases you can easily make this change in your QuickBooks Account or you may need to create a new company file all together. If you just need to change your company type you can follow these steps: Click on the Gear in the top corner>Account and Settings>Company type>Select the correct type under Tax Form.

In order to make sure which option you need to do I recommend reaching out to a business management professional, the CRA, or an accountant. If you don't have an accountant no worries, we can help. You can check out the My Accountant tab in QuickBooks Online and go to Find a pro to help to find one in your area.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
