Hello, I have a couple of employees that have turned 18 and CPP is not being deducted.  Their birthdates are correctly input into QBO.  Any ideas how to get this fixed?

Thanks.

Hello utilatweety,

It's essential you're able to apply CPP for the employees that have turned 18. Don't worry, I'll be happy to point you in the right direction so you can achieve your QuickBooks goals with ease. The program offers a variety of accounting tools that help you streamline your payroll.

QuickBooks will start to automatically deduct CPP on paycheques as soon as the employee turns 18 and automatically stops once the employee turns 70. Based on what you've described, there may be possibility that you initially set up the employee as exempt from taxes. If that's the case, you'll need to manually change that on the employee's profile. The following article does a great job of showing how to: Troubleshoot CPP or EI pay cheque deduction errors. The article also shows you how to check if the employees are exempt from taxes.

I encourage you to browse through the article and let me know if you have questions by leaving a comment below. I'm here to help you get ahead with your work while using the powerful features in QuickBooks.
