Creating an open sales order report by date

Thanks for joining us here in the QuickBooks community! QuickBooks Desktop has a variety of reports to give you different perspectives on your business information and it's great to hear that you've already familiarized yourself with the available sales order reports. I can appreciate wanting something that's a little different than what's offered, so I'll show you another way to find the information you're looking for.

At this time, the Open Sales Order by Customer and Open Sales Order by Item reports are the two options for sales orders. What I recommend is running the Transaction List by Date report and then filtering it to show your open sales order transactions. Here's how to do it.

1. Use the search bar to find the Transaction List by Date report in the Reports Centre.
2. Run the report.
3. Click Customize Report in the upper left of the report window.
4. Select the Filters tab.
5. Find or search for the Posting Status filter from the list.
6. Choose Non-posting to add it to the Current Filter Choices list on the right.
7. Find or search for Paid Status in the filter list.
8. Choose Open to add it to the Current Filter Choices list.
9. Find or search for Transaction Type in the filter list.
10. Choose Sales Order from drop-down menu to add it to the Current Filter Choices list.
11. Click OK to run the filtered report.

It's a little extra leg work, but it'll get you the report you're looking for. Give it a shot!
