Creating new company

My quickbooks desktop is all outta whack.  Can i just create a new company and then input all of our info such as vendors, custoemrs, payroll starting from jan 2020?  If so, will i still be able to access our old company file?

You may create and manage more than one company file with no additional cost. Go to menu File > Create Copy. It will cretae a backup copy and you may restore and name it with a diffrenet name.
