I disputed a charge that was on my credit card, my bank issued me a credit for the charge, however, during my reconciliation process, on the my bank statement it is showing, but not in QB, how do I get that deposit to show in order to finish the reconciliation process?

Reconciling is one of the great features QuickBooks Desktop offers to make your job easier. Good job catching a post from your bank statement not showing up as entered in your company file. I can help you with getting that added.

 

There can be a few different causes for an entry not showing when reconciling in QuickBooks Desktop. One reason would be the entry was put into a different account than the one you're currently reconciling. To check this just pull up the entry however it was made, which would be journal entry or received payment, and make sure it is going into the same account. Another reason would be due to date. While you have the entry open check to make sure the date is within the same time you are reconciling. Finally it could also be due to not being entered into your QuickBooks Desktop company file. If there was no entry made into your company file you will need to enter it by either going to receive payment and entering who gave the money, how much you were given and how it was given and receive it into your account. Make sure the date's the same as what is on the statement.

 

The other way is with a journal entry, I recommend reaching out to your accountant before making any journal entries because if they are entered incorrectly they can have an adverse affect on your books.
