Hey there uservikram-iyer,

Welcome to the Community! I'm glad to have you here and love that you're reaching out for support on the error message you're receiving while trying to import your Chart of Accounts. This should be a straightforward process in QuickBooks Online, so let me give you some pointers on how to get this import completed successfully.

The first suggestion I have is to try some browser and internet troubleshooting steps. Sometimes the images and files stored in your browser's cache can impact the way QBO works for you. The steps below usually help determine whether or not that's the issue. If it is, you'll be back to business in no time.

If after these steps you're still having trouble importing your Chart of Accounts, I want you to take a look at the way your file is formatted. It's essential that you have Account NameType, and Detail Type as headers in your spreadsheet, and it'll need to be saved as an Excel or .CSV file type. When you navigate to the Gear icon and choose Import data, you'll want to select Chart of Accounst as I'm sure you're aware. Once you reach that page, you should see a blue hyperlink that'll allow you to Download a sample file. I recommend downloading that file as it'll give you an idea of exactly how your file should look.

Once you're sure your file is set up correctly, browsed and selected the file, and opened it up, you'll be ready to map it according to the QuickBooks fields. This is an important step and requires opening your spreadsheet and using the arrows to match the names in your file to the QuickBooks fields. Once everything looks good, you'll be able to hit Import to bring your Chart of Accounts into QuickBooks Online.

If you're still having trouble after reviewing the suggestions I've provided here, I recommend reaching out to our team of support experts outside of the Community. An agent will be able to do a screenshare or view screenshots and assist you with some additional troubleshooting and support to get things moving. Here's how you can reach out:
