Question

exporting QB Desktop to QB Online lost all vehicle and mileage history

This week I exported 18 years worth of company data from QB Desktop 2023 to QB Online Easy-Start.  I noticed all my vehicle and mileage history did not make it over to QBO.  I will start from scratch going forward, but this could be a big deal if I find myself audited.  I uncovered this ambiguous reference "However, there are some pieces of information that won’t convert or transfer automatically with your company file."  in this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/help-article/import-export-files/migrating-quickbooks-desktop-quickbooks-online/L47H2Uugp_CA_en_CA?uid=l9h9cbnn

I would like to read something a lot more specific about what data I can expect to lose by "upgrading" to QB Online.  Is my mileage history gone for good?  What else have I sacrificed by choosing this upgrade?  Surely I cannot be the first person to encounter this?

Note: in 2016 I was audited by CRA and having access to the historical mileage logs was a game changer during that process.

Hi Dan S in 613,

Welcome to Community!  It's important that you're able to convert your QuickBooks Data to QuickBooks Online with peace of mind.  I'd be glad to provide more information here!

Knowing what can and cannot be imported seamlessly is beneficial to ensure you're back to business as soon as possible.  Here's our Comprehensive guide for moving data to QuickBooks Online.  For your reference, you can review what information can be imported here.  Although there currently isn't a way to import mileage to QuickBooks Online,  I recommend reviewing third party apps for the best fit for your business needs.

Please feel free to reach back out if you have other questions.  We'd be happy to help!
