Hello synergycinema,

Having a program that can auto-populate fields can be handy, but not when the auto-populated options aren't appropriate for the information you're trying to enter. I can see how this would cause some extra work when using QuickBooks Online and means taking extra care to catch each instance where the information isn't applied properly. I can go over this with you.

One of the things QuickBooks Online aims to be is intuitive. With that, there are a number of automated options that can be toggled, but others that cannot be changed at this time. The goal is to minimize the work you need to do in your books, but as you've noted, the program can get it wrong. It sounds to me like you may be referring to how QuickBooks Online's bank feeds feature predicts information for the transactions, and if that's the case, that's one of the automated options that cannot be changed.

To see what automations can be toggled, follow these steps.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and settings.
  3. Choose Advanced.
  4. Click the Automation section.
  5. Toggle the options as you'd like.
  6. Click Save.

For options that you would like to see the option to automated or not automate, I recommend submitting feedback to share with our product development team could enhance the product. QuickBooks Online's growth comes from comments from users, so it's a great way to share how existing features impact your books. Here's how to submit feedback: How do I submit feedback? To see the updates that have been made to the product, check out our QuickBooks Online Feature and Product Updates page.

Take care!
