Hello ryan53,

Thanks for reaching out! I hope QuickBooks Self-Employed is working well for your entrepreneurial needs. I'm happy to go over this with you to make sure that you've got the information you need.

At this time, there isn't a way to set a fiscal year for a QuickBooks Self-Employed account. I know this is a very useful tool for business owners to make sure they're reporting the correct figures and makes it easier when running reports. I recommend submitting feedback for the product engineers about this by following these steps.

  1. Select Assistant.
  2. Type in Feedback, hit enter, and wait for the prompt.
  3. Choose from the options given.
  4. Type up your idea and hit enter again.

Pretty simple, right? We love hearing suggestions from users like you about different ways we can enhance what the program does for you.

To speak with a dedicated QuickBooks Self-Employed agent in more detail, simply type "talk to human" in the Assistant feature and follow the prompts.
