Hi Melanie,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I know how important it is to have the flexibility to downgrade, upgrade, or cancel your account when necessary. I'd be sad to see you go, but I appreciate you have to make the right decision for your business.

To cancel your account in QuickBooks Online, make sure you sign in from a web browser as you can't cancel your account from the QuickBooks mobile app. If you can't log in from a web browser, you should reset your password. To assist you with that, here's a useful article: Reset your password or recover your user ID for QuickBooks Online

If after resetting your password you're still unable to log in, it could be a browser issue. Stored internet files in your browser can cause bugs in QuickBooks Online or other websites. Clearing the cache and cookies easily resolves this. Here's how to do that: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online

Once you're signed in, follow these steps below to cancel your account:

  1. Select Settings ⚙ and then Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the Billing and subscription tab.
  3. Click on Cancel subscription.
  4. Select Continue to cancel.
  5. Click Submit and cancel subscription.
  6. Select Got it.

Once you're done, we'll send the account administrator an email that confirms we cancelled your subscription. After the account is cancelled, you have up to 365 days of read-only access to your account information.

Note that if your account is suspended, you need to resubscribe before you can cancel. You can find the necessary steps to resubscribe in the article: How to resubscribe or reactivate QuickBooks Online

If you're not seeing the Billing and subscription tab when trying to cancel your account, there are a couple of reasons that could be happening. The first is that you originally subscribed through either the Apple or Google Play store. If that's the case, find out how you can cancel your subscription from your app store using this article: Cancel a QuickBooks Online subscription purchased through an app store

The other reason it may be missing is that you're under your accountant's billing. In that case, get in touch with your accountant to close your account.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance with this. :)
