Question

How do I see if an entry has an attachment without editing/opening the entry?

I have been attaching receipts to my entries for non-recurring transactions. I want to find those transactions that still need an attachment. Is there a straightforward way to scan or search for entries that have or do not have attachments?

I have been using the register view.

I can see that there are attachments when I go into the "Edit Transaction" window (see below), but not if I am in any other view.

Thank you!

Hi there RuthEllen,

Attaching files to your transactions is a fantastic way to keep things organized. I know how important it is to be able to view all of your attachments and what transaction they're attached to at once, and luckily there's an easy way to do that in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me explain.

If you navigate to the Company menu, then select Documents, you'll be able to choose the Doc Centre. This is where you can add or scan new documents, and view the documents you've already attached to previous transactions. When you view the list of previously attached documents you can check out the Attached To column to view which transaction each was uploaded to. While you won't see the transactions that don't have attachments here, this should help you narrow down which you still need to upload files for, and you can do that right from this window.
