Sometimes it's necessary to add your supplier as a customer and I'll be happy to share more info. QuickBooks is a great platform that allows you to organize your customers and suppliers so you can manage them with ease.
Since QuickBooks is designed to require a different name for the same supplier and customer, you'll have to differentiate the name by adding an extra character to one of the names. For example, say you have a supplier named John Doe, you'll have to add John Doe as a supplier with the name "John Doe" and to add John as a customer, you'll have to use the name "John D Doe". You're more than welcome to add a character of your choice to indicate the difference.
