Hi,

I would like to see a list of all the expenses sorted by project and also to see what expenses I have not charged in projects, so that I can analyse if I have correctly categorized my expenses on the right projects and if I have not forgotten anything ?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Best regards

Hello Alice Bold House,

Reviewing your data is the perfect way to keep a set of books in check, and I can appreciate wanting to make sure everything has been entered the way it needs to be in the Projects feature using QuickBooks Online. I'll help you with this.

Since you're looking for a list of transactions with certain details, using reports may be most useful to you. With Projects, there are specific reports built into that feature that you can consider when reviewing your data. The Unbilled time and expenses report highlights for you which expenses haven't be charged in the project, so I recommend starting there. In the Projects tab, click the project, then the Project Reports tab to find the one I just mentioned.

When you run the Project Profitability report, you can see a breakdown of expenses per expense category. Clicking the figure in the Total column brings you to a list of the expenses under that category for you to review.

Apart from those reports, there are others in the Reports tab that may be able to help you here. These may take a bit more customization to show you the information you're looking for since you'll need to consider both the project and the related suppliers to find the transactions you need. The beauty of the Project Reports is that the program automatically takes these into account an categorizes them for you, but other reports in the program don't do this, nor is there a "by project" grouping option. I recommend trying reports like the Transaction List by Date report to start. Here are some articles that can help you.

Feel free to share your thoughts about the available options by going to the How do I submit feedback? article to learn the steps to take. Feedback is forwarded to the product development team for consideration when updating the product and this feature is a great way to have your voice heard.

I hope this has been helpful.
