How to make Inventory item attachments carry over to sales orders

We are setting up non inventory items with our sale price and attachments of part drawings which we manufacture. It's quick and easy to create a sales order by selecting the item, but the attachments are not being carried over to the sales order. We then have to search the item, copy the attached drawings to desktop then re-attach the drawing to the new sales order. This is a cumbersome step and i'm certain there is an easier way.

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Desktop is a powerful program that enables you to complete your daily tasks with peace of mind.  I can see how it would be a great time saver to have the attachments carry over to your sales orders.  I'd be happy to provide more information here!

 

As you've noted, you're attaching the file by copying it.  However, you can also follow these steps;

 

1. Open the Sales order or create a new one

2. Select Attach File and browse for the item

3. Click Add and then hit Done to add it to the form

We are trying to eliminate the hassle of searching for drawings each time the sales order is created for an item. We have the drawings attached with the item, but it won't drag it over when we generate a new sales order for that item. It would be great feature to have all attached documents for an item automatically import to a new sales order for that item.
