Hello cindypan,

I'll pick up the conversation here and help you however I can. I see one of the moderators mentioned calling in, which you stated isn't possible. The scope of support available here in community is limited when it comes to in-depth troubleshooting, but I think I can help with this one.

Once you've set a home currency on a company file, you're unable to change it. Creating a new company file with the proper currency is the way to resolve this issue so you can properly record your books in the currency you need. Here's how to create a new company file.

  1. Log out of your current company file by going to File and choosing Close Company/Logoff.
  2. This will take you to the No Company Open screen, where you can click Create a new company.
  3. Follow the steps to create a new file.

If you're having trouble choosing CAD as the currency in the new company file, that's something that may need to be looked at by our phone support team so we can determine where this error is coming from.

So you're not having to start completely from scratch, there are certain things such as lists that can be exported from your old company file to the new company file. Read the Import/export overview to learn more about the options. The only caution I have for you is to not export and import items and accounts that have Yuan assigned to them, as those may retain the currency assigned.

I'll be here if you need further clarification. Just let me know what you need. :)

Hi there, cindypan.

Let's start by updating the software to the latest release. This will help fix some bugs and issues you have encountered in QuickBooks.

Here are the steps:

  1. From the Help menu, select Update QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab on the Update QuickBooks window.
  3. In the Option tab, click on the Mark All and choose Save.
  4. From the Update Now tab, mark to select the Reset Update checkbox and click on Get Updates.
  5. Restart QuickBooks. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

Then, try setting up the Multicurrency feature.

If the issue persists, then I recommend running the QuickBooks Refresher (QBRefresher) Tool.

You can follow the detailed steps in this article: Solutions for when QuickBooks stops working.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be here to keep helping. Wishing you a good one.

Hi,

This problem is still happening. I cannot set up multi-currencies, and even I find the billing and invoicing currency are showing as ¥ Chinese yuan!! what happened to the software!!

Let me help, @cindypan.

You may have accidentally selected the Chinese currency when setting up the home currency. Instead of clicking View More Currencies, you can type in the currency instead.

Generally, the steps provided by my colleague @JaneD should help fix bugs when using QuickBooks Desktop. If you still experience issues, it'd be best to reach out to our Desktop Support to isolate this further. They have extra tools and other troubleshooting tips that'll help you out.

Keep me posted how it goes. I want to ensure you get all the help you need with your multiple currencies.
