I accidentally didnt download my bank history from an old enough date.. how can i redo that so i get more history?

You've come to the right place and I'd be happy to go over this with you. Using the bank feeds feature in QuickBooks Online is a fantastic way to streamline the process of entering your transactions. As an added bonus, it also makes doing your reconciliations a breeze. Selecting the wrong date when importing your transactions is an easy mistake to make, but you'll be able to correct it in no time.

When it comes to bringing those older transactions in, you have two options. The first is to disconnect the account and reconnect it again, selecting the correct date range the second time around. When disconnecting an account, the transactions you've already categorized will remain in your books, QuickBooks will just stop downloading new transactions. Any transactions that remain in the For review tab will be deleted, and if any of your transactions are older than 90 days old, you may not be able to pull them back in. Here's how to disconnect an account:

1. Navigate to the Banking or Transactions tab from the left.
2. Select the tile for the account that you'd like to delete.
3. Click the small pencil icon, then Edit account info.
4. Check off the box to Disconnect this account on save. 
5. Hit Save and Close. 

Now you'll simply need to connect the account once again, select the correct date for the oldest transaction you need to download, and you'll be good to go. As I mentioned above, transactions over 90 days old may not download as per your financial institution. If this is the case for you, the second method for downloading your older transactions will do the trick!

Manually downloading and uploading is an effective method of pulling your transactions into QuickBooks Online. It works well especially if there's an outage or an issue connecting your bank, but is just as practical in situations like yours where you need to bring in some older transactions. This process requires downloading your transactions as a .CSV file from your financial institution's online banking page, then importing them into QuickBooks Online. It's important to note that on occasion, both of the methods I've shared may cause duplicate transactions to appear in the For review tab of the Banking page. It's easy to remove the duplicates though - just check the box to the left for any duplicates you need to remove, and select Exclude. This brings the transactions to the Excluded tab. If at a later date you decide you want to categorize some of these transactions, you can bring them back to the For review tab by selecting the blue Undo in the Action column.
