I can't reconcile my current bank statement, as my opening balance is off. I know where the item/amount is, but that statement has already been reconciled.

If you need to 'unreconcile' an item, or re-reconcile an item, you can do so from the chart of accounts under the account you need to fix, and clicking on any transaction.  There is 'unreconciled (blank)', 'Cleared', and 'Reconciled'
