I cannot open a second window, I keep getting an error that Quickbooks has to close. What do I do?

It sounds like you're working with QuickBooks Online's app for Windows or Mac, which is a fantastic option for simplifying your workflow with the program. With just the click of an icon, you can launch QuickBooks Online and get to work. The option to have several tabs open enhances the working options even more, and I want to make sure that you're able to use it without errors.

There have been other reports of this issue since the last update to the QuickBooks Online app for Windows or Mac and our engineers are on the job to get things working smoothly again. That being said, I have some troubleshooting steps for you to try to see if you're able to use the tabs again more quickly.

The first place to start is with clearing the app's cache. There are a couple of options for this, and I recommend the Reset app data option through the uppermost Help menu. This doesn't impact your data that's been entered in your books, but gives the app a good scrub to remove temporary files that could be causing problems.

As a workaround to opening new tabs in the app, you can right click on the item you want to open in a new tab and then select Open link in new tab. Give that a shot.
