Question

I didn’t properly track my mileage for 2019, I have some receipts but not all, and I tracked some months on triplog, are my deductions for 2019 lost?

Hello miha9697,

It's great to hear that you've bee tracking your trips using the QuickBooks Self-Employed mileage tracking feature. I appreciate the importance of making sure you have all the necessary data to enter into your books and I want to make sure you know your options since you're missing some of those details.

My first recommendation to you is to check in with an accountant or bookkeeping professional. They'll be able to guide you on how you can assess your numbers to make sure you're properly recording data based on what you have, as well as let you know if there's a way to account for what you're missing. It may be as simple as only recording the information you have by manually entering your receipts and other information, but they may have other solutions for you as well.

The next step once you have those details is to get in touch with the QuickBooks Self-Employed team if you need a hand from the QuickBooks side of things. An agent will be able to take a close look at your situation to let you know the best course of action in the program. To speak with an agent, follow these steps.

  1. Select the Assistant feature.
  2. Type and enter "talk to human."
  3. Follow the prompts to connect with an agent.

So you have them, here are our step-by-step articles about manually entering trips and expenses in the program.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
