Question

I just started with Quickbooks, and I need to sync with my bank accounts going back to the beginning of the year. But it isn’t doing that currently. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Connecting your bank and credit card accounts is one of the biggest timesavers in QuickBooks Online. Once you connect, QuickBooks automatically downloads the last 90 days of transactions from your bank. I'd be happy to help explain how you can import all of your transactions from the beginning of the year.

If you need to get older transactions from your bank, you can upload them manually by using a CSV file.

To ensure you don't import transactions you've already recorded, take a look at your account to see the oldest transaction in your account. To do that, click the Accounting tab on the left navigation menu, then select Chart of Accounts. Click on Account History next to your bank account and scroll to the bottom of the list to see the oldest transaction. In many cases, the oldest transaction is the opening balance.

Once you've done that, you can import the transactions from your online banking website. Simply log onto your online banking, then follow the banks instructions for how to download transactions to your computer. Select the appropriate date-range, then save it to your computer in an easy-to-find location.

Take a look at this article for more in-depth instructions: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online. This article will also guide you through the process of uploading these transactions into your QuickBooks Online account.

If you have any other questions about this, please don't hesitate to reach out down below.

Have a great day!
