Question

I keep getting "HTTP ERROR 500" when trying to run QBO payroll. Tried everything: cleared cache, incognito, different browser & even different computer. Can I fix this?

Hi cmt-bookkeeping,

I appreciate you reaching out here.  The error code you're receiving indicates a bad gateway, indicating a server on the internet has received an invalid response.  However, it's important that you're able to continue with QuickBooks Online Payroll and I'd be glad to help!

To resolve the issue, I suggest trying these steps;

-Load the URL again by pressing F5 or Ctrl+R (Command+R on a Mac) on your keyboard, or by selecting the refresh/reload button.

-Close all open browsers and then open a new private/incognito window

-Clear cache and cookies.  Outdated or corrupted files being stored by your browser could be causing error 502, bad gateway issues.

-Try another browser, such as Edge or Safari

-Reboot your computer

-Reboot your modem and router

If you experience the same outcome, please contact us.  It would be our pleasure to work with you directly and ensure you're able to move forward with QuickBooks Online Payroll without further delay!
